Our story
Friends-R-Fun Child Development Center, Inc is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization offering quality child care/early childhood education and adult education in Nicholas County, West Virginia. The Center was started as a response to a community need and first opened its doors in September 8, 1986. It was originally housed in a borrowed classroom of the seventh-day Adventist Church and opened with eight preschool children and an all volunteer staff. Supplies and equipment were donated from homes, businesses and yard sales. In 1994 services expanded to include the Family Learning Center which serves adults seeking to receive their high school diploma and/or career centered trainings.

Our mission
It has always been the quest of the Board of Directors and Staff to meet the needs of the children and strengthen the family unit. It is a profound responsibility to be entrusted with the care, nurturing and education of young children. Teachers role-model courteous and respectful behavior, are positive consistent in expectations, encourage pro-social behavior, give children choices and use re-direction when appropriate. We seek to respect each child as a unique individual that is constantly learning and growing.
We seek to fill the children's day with constructive learning activities in a safe, loving, learning environment. The curriculum is planned to promote age appropriate development of social, mental, physical, spiritual, and character buildiing skills. Also promoted is growth in the areas of building a healthy, positive self-image, development of language and self-expression, self control, arespect for others and independence, as the basis of helping children become capable adults.
